The mobile handset industry has experienced strong growth over the last two years. Two and a half generation (2.5G) technologies are mainstream, third generation (3G) technologies are gaining real momentum, and talk of fourth generation (4G) systems have begun. Mobile handsets are not only evolving through standards, they are also evolving from voice communication devices to more multifunction and multimedia type devices. Mobile handsets continue to integrate features and functionality from PDA functionality to cameras to MP3 capability, making mobile handset more of the “all-in-one” device.
